So I recently got to do a skype chat with the fabulous Bridget Regan from ‘Legend of The Seeker’.
Here is a summary of my Skype session with the fabulous Bridget Regan. It’s more like a story to be honest. I’ve tried to be as in-depth as I can and maybe I talked too much ( I really did!) so sorry for the babbling. I actually think I talked about myself a little too much, but I wanted it to be just a chat more than an interview, so… anyhow I’ve tried to be as accurate as I can, but with my memory that leaves a lot to be desired.
Basically, when I’ve used quotes, it’s not going to be exactly how it was said but I tried to be as accurate as I could since you couldn’t record any audio/video, and I apparently have the memory of a fish!
So it went something like this, or hey, maybe I just thought it went like this. Anyhow…
NOTE: Sorry for any bad spelling and grammar.
Here goes…
So initially me skype session was supposed to be on Wednesday but B had a meeting so I got re-scheduled to Friday. Then there was a bit of confusion, I was around the corner at the pub with family and friends so I popped off and I left family/friends and got home and got online at 7:22pm my time when it was supposed to happen at 7:30pm, and I waited but no one seemed to pop online. I thought I’d fecked up the time so I messaged Natalie from ‘Camp Wanatachi’ and said I’ve been online for near an hour after my scheduled time but B hadn’t come online and I pointed out I hope I didn’t mess it up and get the time difference wrong. Oops! Natalie messaged me within minutes saying hello and that she and Bridget had got their wires crossed with time change. She is avail at 1:00 (which was like 3 mins away at this point) or at 2:00, and asked if that would work for me and if not we can look at next week! She said she was so sorry about this, and it was totally her fault. I messaged back and said not to fret, it’s all good! Then said that the slot now, would be fine if that’s okay. Then within seconds I saw B pop up on skype, I sat there and this screen popped up saying, ‘Hi Hannah. It’s Bridget. So sorry about this mix up. Natalie said you might be available now? Could that work for you?’. So I messaged back saying, ‘Lol. Hi Bridget. Honestly, don’t worry about it. I am available, but if you’re rushed for time it’s all good. Slot me in whenever.’
So within a minute of me sending that message a video request call popped up and I clicked, ‘Accept Video Call’. Now, I was a bit nervous – honestly more so because I’m not a good conversationist on the telephone. I’m more of a face-to-face person, or text! Anyhow, so there was a black screen no picture, but I could here this cute little American accent saying ‘Hiiii Hannah?’. I was like, ‘Can you see me? I can hear you, but I can’t see you. I think I heard a laugh and she was like, ‘Yeah’. Then within seconds a picture popped up. I was like, ‘Ahhhh, I can see you now’. We both sort of waved at each other. I pointed out I was with family and friends and I left them to come back and then thought I got the wrong time, and that I was sitting here for like hour an going, ‘I’ve so got the time difference wrong’. She was like, ‘Awww, I am so sorry’. To which then I felt guilty about, and I started laughing and said don’t even worry about it, she was like, ‘Where are you right now?’, and I was like, ‘In my parents house’, just which she was like, ‘I’m at my parents in San Diego’. I said I literally ran back from the pub to be here, to which she was laughing. Can I just say at this point the woman is AWESOME! She was SO natural. She has this quality about her that just completely relaxes you and makes you feel completely at ease. Whatever nerves I may have had left me within the first 30 seconds of talking to her. If I remember correctly she was wearing a white vest top and what appeared to be little or no make-up, yet she still looked completely flawless! Urgh… yes, jealous much.
I asked her how she was and she said she was good, and vice versa. I started off with talking about the main reason the skype talked happened, which is ‘Camp Wantachi’. I said that it’s actually funny because my Sister was a Camp Counsellor for years at a Christian Camp in and I know there was a lot kids who actually came out years later, so although it was something I couldn’t relate to directly, I had some sort of connection. I pointed out that’s why I found the musical to be interesting, which was what it was about, homosexuality in Christianity. She seemed to be really interested in what I had to say and went onto to explain about the play and talked about Iain and Natalie. When she talked about the Blue Man Group, she mentioned it’s founder which I said. ‘Ian?’ She was like yeah, and it’s weird, he actually prounoucnes it, ‘E-an’. I was like,’ Ahhhh, that’s so weird’. She mentioned Craig. I was like like I love how you pronounce ‘Craig’, and ‘Creg’, we say it so different! Now for the life of me I cannot remember how Craig came into the conversation. I need to remember so hopefully it’ll come to me soon! I was trying to take everything in so I could remember it to recap for your guys so some things have probably slipped my memory, this annoyingly being one of them.
I asked about her plans after ‘Legend of the Seeker’. She said she was going to go to Thailand (so I hear from a previous chat session that is where Tab is) after she finished filming season 2 but then with LOTS press etc. her plans changed. She said she wanted to get back to be really hands on with Camp Wantachi and to be there on the opening night. Also that they paid for her and her boyfriend to travel around Europe promoting the show, and then they done a bit of travelling. She said Paris she loved because of the shops etc. Italy, all the towns she went, the smaller towns etc. were amazing, all the culture. She said she’d love to go back to Paris with an empty suitcase, she could shop a lot. She said loved London, she loved the shops! I mentioned I’m not a big fan of shopping, to which her response was something along the lines of, ‘Whatttt girl’. I was laughing and saying I know, I think I’m the only girl who at the age of 24 who doesn’t like shopping. She said in London they went the Tate gallery, the usual tourist places. She went to Buckingham Palace and they saw the Queen’s guards etc. but as her boyfriend lived there for a while it was old news to him, lol, but she was quite the little tourist. I asked if she was going to do any more travelling, she said she wanted to eventually but she said that since she’s been filming the show for 2 years, she’s missed family and friends so she’s going to just enjoy that for a while. She mentioned that New Zealand was SUCH a long way from family and friends, like a 13 hour (?) flight so… I asked if she went to see any shows while in London, I mentioned I went to see ‘Wicked’ and ‘Phantom of the Opera’ when my friend came from L.A and I was blown away, and she said she saw them ages ago. She said she more just chilled during the evenings, and that as her boyfriend had lived there, he had friends there so they just had dinner in the evening at his friends and hung-out. I said I saw on her twitter she went to see Stevie Wonder in London. I asked her what was it like? There was a bit of confusion and she thought I said I went to the concert, she said, ‘You went too?’ I said ‘Oh no, sorry I didn’t go but I would had love too, unfortunately, I’m a good way from London. I live in the North’. She was like, ‘Oh yeah, you’re in Liverpool’. I loved the fact that she knew what city I was in before I told her. Girl does her research. I cannot remember word for word what she said, but it was something along the lines of she’d love to visit Liverpool or next time she travels she’ll have to visit here – to which anyone who hasn’t been here, you have to visit. Such a great city!
Yep, that was a plug for my home town.
Anyhow, she said Stevie Wonder was amazing, and it’s sort of like a childhood thing, her Dad’s influence. I said kind of like me and my Dad, with Neil Diamond. She was like, ‘Really?’, I was like, ‘Yeah, I love Neil’, and she was laughing/smiling. I said I really wanted to go to New Zealand and that after seeing the show it pretty cemented that plan, I said the show was a great tourist sale for New Zealand because the scenery looks amazing! She said I have to go there. I told her I knew people who had went and they raved about it, and in fact another friend is going around December time and flying into Christchurch. She was like, ‘Uww December is perfect!’ She told me it’s perfect there as it’s there Summer, and it’s beautiful as the snow is melting on the moutains so the scenery is great. I asked her is she could do a good Kiwi accent and that I found Aussie accents and New Zealand accent similar but you can definitely tell the difference and I was like, ‘How is your NZ accent?’, and she was sort of like, ‘Oh gawd.’ And then I for whatever reason attempted it and I was like, ‘Actually I just sounded like an English country farmer’. She said she actually tried to not to pick it up as her character had an American accent, so she didn’t want to pick up any New Zealand twang. I asked if she could understand my accent as my mate in L.A is always like, ‘Huh? Girl slow down’. She smiled and said she could understand me perfectly. Then she was like Aussies are more pronounced at the end of the words and did an awesome Aussie accent. It was awesome and so cute! I asked if she had ever been to Austrailia and she said she had. It’s like a 4 hour flight and she flew down for a few days during the filming of the show and hung out with Jessica, who played Denna of course. I said I loved her character. She said Jessica is great!
We talked about concerts and I asked her about Lady Gaga, and she said she was amazing live. I said she actually toured here but I missed her, and should have went. She said I had to see her and I’m sure she’s going to tour again soon. She threw in that she actually took Tabrett to see Lady Gaga for her birthday and she was telling me how awesome a time they had. I of course talked about Tab’s part in Seeker, and I said as much as I loved the first series, the second series was so much better. She agreed and was like I know it was so much better. I said the addition of Tab was awesome, and everyone loved her character, I thought she was awesome. She agreed with me and said she loves Tab. It was touch and go the finale episode to see if she was a regular but she was so happy when they finally announced she would be made a permanent regular in Season 3. I said I guess with all that testosterone on set, it’s good to have another female, she laughed and was like, ‘Yeah right?!’. She always seemed to smile when referring to her, I guess which shows how good friends the two are. I was going to ask more as I know how much you guys love her, but I read an interview where Tab pointed out how incredibly private she was, so I didn’t want to ask anymore unless B contributed any more information, and to be honest I never directly asked about Tab she in fact brought her up a few times.
I mentioned ‘Sex and The City’, and I watched it with a friend a few nights ago. I said I saw her, red and curly hair and all. She laughed and was like, ‘Yeah that’s me.’ I asked her about the filming process and she said initially she read for a bunch fof different parts. I asked if she has seen the second film, to which she hadn’t, with all the travelling and all, but she said, it was definitely one to rent on DVD, and I guess watch it with the girlies. I mentioned I went with a friend and obviously had a few cocktails, aka. cosmos before and then we went to watch it. I mentioned it had like really bad reviews and it was all the hoo har about it been politically incorrect to which she was sort of screwed up her face as if to say, ‘I know?’, lol. She made me laugh when she talked about just how big the SATC clothing truck was. She said it was HUGE! Like massive, and it had sections for each actress. She said that she thought she would be wearing like an outfit from H&M or something to which I joked, ‘Err, what’s wrong with H&M?.’ She laughed and was like nothing, but they gave me like a $400 designer dress to wear, I said to her, ‘Because obviously a hostess in NY can afford a dress like that on their wages’, to which she was like, ‘Yeah right obviously a $12 an hour waitress could afford a designer dress right?’, to which we both laughed.
I said to her too about there’s a site dedicated to the epicness of her hair, she was so flattered and said she had heard about it and how could someone not be flattered? I asked if she was going to stay her current colour or go back red, to which she said she was going to stay the way it is now, but lighter, and she had in fact just had it lightened up, and doing a hair flip as if to point it out, she was like, ‘I don’t know if you can see it, but it’s kind of orbany right now’. I mentioned I’m naturally curly and thanked her so much for suggesting that curly product, she was like, ‘which one was it again, I use SO many products on my hair’. I tried to prounounce it, but couldn’t and I was like, ‘ It’s Frederik Feck…’ To which she was like’ Frederic Fekkai?’ I said, that’s the one, and done some weird ass thumbs up. I said it’s awesome to which she agreed, and I thanked her for suggesting it. I said, it’s funny, my Sister is naturally a red head and I’m brown and naturally curly hair, and when we were both young were were like, ‘Urgh, thanks Mum’. Then I made some woeful joke. *cringes* I said having frizzy/curly and saying to my Mum, ‘Errr thanks for my frizzy hair’, and my Mum was like ‘Blame your dad’, and I said I will, ‘What? But his hair isn’t curly’, and she was like, ‘No I meant your real dad’. She was laughing although she was probably thinking, ‘what the frig are you talking about’. She recommended I have to try this 4 day treatment, something keratin it was called. It is for frizzy/curly hair. She said it’s a treatment were you cannot touch your hair for 4 days, aka. you cannot wash it, but after the four days it’s amazing, your hair feels great, and it gets rid of ALL the frizz. She said she had it done many times while filming the show. (I Googled it, I’m pretty sure it’s called La Brasiliana Keratin Treatment). I want, like now.
I asked her about her plans career wise and she said she’s got ‘Camp Wanatachi’ to concentrate on and she said she’s looking at some scripts. I said, ‘Hmm, can you tell is what scripts? But don’t tell me if you can’t.’ She just said along the lines of there’s a few things she’s looking at and she’s going to see what happens, but she’s going to be okay. I said definitely, of course, and something tells me you’re going to be just fine after Seeker finishes. I asked about where she’s going to be based, and she said that she actually had to let go of her appartment in New York this year. She said it was only tiny, and I mentioned my Sister’s friend had an appartment in New York and it was like a shoe box, but it was SO expensive. She agreed at how expensive rent was etc.
I’m pretty sure she mentioned about buying a house as she’s going to be based in L.A. I said I visited L.A. and loved it, but certain places I found weird, especially Hollywood. I think she agreed Hollywood is definitely weird – but I can’t 100% remember that part, and I think she told me where the nice places in L.A are to go, however again, this bit I’m a bit hazey about. Honestly, my brain was taking so much info in, I may have just made this part up myself, lol. I do remember mentioning being in Starbucks and someone went to a bunch of young girls, ‘Hi, I’m a producer’. I said I laughed and didn’t think anyone actually used that line. She was like, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve been there and I’ve seen that side of the business.’ So was interesting to hear what she had to say about how the whole Hollywood scene is.
She talked a little about the weather and she said how hot it was. I loved how she kept reaching for a freakin’ GIANT (and I mean GIANT) bottle of water whereas I was reaching for my glass of beer. Can you tell I’m British?
I mentioned trying coming to see ‘Camp Wanatachi’ in January, and I may fly down to see my Sister and then fly to NY to see it and do some shopping (I actually liked shopping in NY). I said, I’d be a bit of a loser flying by myself, and she was, ‘Awww’, and laughed. She asked where my Sister lives and I went, ‘Errr, Kentucky’, at which point I swear she laughed again… is Kentucky really that bad? Lol.
I asked her if she’d done any commentary for Season 2 of the DVD’s, and she said she hadn’t. She did it for Season 1 but she hasn’t been asked to do it yet for Season 2. She hopes too though as she said she loved doing it the first time around as it was so much fun! I said, it’s so annoying the fact that the first season isn’t actually available to buy outside of the US, but I bought it and got it shipped here and I can’t even watch it as it’s a different region, aka. not compatible, and she agreed it kind of sucked.
It was like 33 mins, and I knew someone was scheduled after me, so I said, ‘I know you have someone scheduled next so I’ll let you go,’. She was like, ‘Awww, I’m so sorry’. I was like, ‘Nooo, don’t be silly, and thank you so much’. She was sort of like no, thank you, it’s because of your generosity and people/fans like you that have made the run of Camp Wanatachi in January possible. Basically there was a lot of thankies and me blushing. I finished it off by saying good luck to her Iain, Natalie and her with the run in January and I wish her all the luck in everything. Then I was like, ‘Go on, I’ll let you cut me off’. We smiled, we said goodbye, waved and that was that. What a fab lady!
I also thought it was SO cute how she constantly kept flipping and playing with her hair -which I’m sure is something the folks over at F**k Yeah Bridget’s Hair would have loved! LOL.
I was probably WAY too hyper hrough the whole thing – nothing to do with the couple of glasses of alcohol I had consumed while I was out with family and friends. Honestly though, Bridget is the most gracious, sweetest, genuine person I’ve head the pleasure to speak to. I was a fan before, but now even more so. What an amazing lady!
EDIT: She also mentioned re twitter and I said I check her tweets now and again, and she went on to say she needs to go on it more, she wonders what’s going on in the land tweeting or something??? I think she misses tweeting. She seemed to love it, and that really she needs to start maybe tweeting some products etc. I said she must!
EDIT: I forgot to mention the most important thing. I asked her what did she think of the prospect of a third season happening. I said as much as I want a third season and of course how much she wants a third season, was she sort of in a way glad that she’ll get to get the chance to do something completely different? She was like you know what, whatever happens she’ll be really happy with. I’m pretty sure she mentioned about with all the props being sold etc. it’d be a hard job to replace everything, so… however, remember you guys, keep fighting for a third season! It ain’t over till it’s over guys!
So basically that is something along the lines of how it went. Trust me, when you have my memory, I’m suprised I remembered ANYTHING at all.

Hope you don’t mind my coming over and reading this. A LotS fansite mentioned your posting this.
Awesome. Thanks for taking the time to recount all this and in such detail. Happy for you to get the chance for this chat and appreciate so much your sharing it.
Bridget is a sweetie, no lie. And it tickled me to hear the mention of her taking Tabrett to a Lady Gaga concert!
Oh, and my family is from Kentucky! It’s beautiful, but a poor state. No large cities to compete with those major coastal ones, is all. I’m sure your sis is fine. Maybe just a little bored. LOL
Thanks again!
Of course not! Hope you liked the little re-cap.
Bored? Lol. Well, I’m going their next year to visit, so let’s see just how bored I get. ;o)
Be sure to let us know when you remember what she said about Craig.
